Gluing composite

Frédéric Géa

Gluing a composite in plywood/polystyrene foam can pose some problems. It is advisable not to directly apply the screw clamps to the surface because the force of the clamp will deform the plywood into the foam.

Better to use ¾ inch plywood on both sides of the assembly. This spreads out the force and also protects the work from the screw clamp jaws. Be sure to check the parts and if necessary use a nail or pin as outlined above to hold the parts in register.
