Description |
This wonderful planetary nebula
in a contrasted, star spangled field, was reported by Messier in 1779. It
is a challenging imaging target from 34° southern latitude, never rising
very high above the northern horizon. The Dumbbell is one of the
nearer planetary nebulae at about 1000 lightyears distance. |
