Description |
This fine nebula, dicovered by
Messier in 1764, shows very extensive luminosity of varying brightness
with dark irregular lanes followed by a bright open star cluster (NGC
6530). The brightest part is called the Hourglass nebula and is excited by
the star Herschel 36. Distance: about 5000 lightyears. |
