The Magnitude Alert Project (MAP) is a rapid announcement program that highlights asteroids found in predicted magnitude error 
and look after the follow-up of these asteroids until the confirmation of the H magnitude discrepancy.
This is a research project under the Association of Lunar Planetary Observers Minor planet Section.

Le Magnitude Alert Project (MAP) est un programme d'annonce rapide qui transmet l'information sur les astéroides suspectés d'avoir 
leur magnitude prévue en erreur et assure le suivi de ces astéroides pour confirmer les ecarts de magnitude absolue H.
C'est un projet de recherche de la Minor Planet Section de l'Association of Lunar Planetary Observers.

CONTENT OF THE MAP DATABASE: 495 Asteroids and 5542 individual measures, sometimes put together in a same line
A "Recapitulative LIST of MAP asteroids" with their actual H magnitude discrepancy is available on the Websites of Astrosurf and ALPO 
This update of the MAP Database contains 495 asteroids, then 8 more than the previous database on March 01,2009
The MAP database nows contains 5542 measures (previously 5337 measures), then 205 complementary measures made since the last 
update, 3 months ago. This total of 204 measures is consisted of 140 CCD measures and 65 visual measures.   
In addition to the measures of the 8 new asteroids entered in the MAP database, many new measures have been made for 20 old MAP objects.
On the total of the 495 asteroids of the database, 103 of them (20.8% of the total) have their original MAP difference of magnitude explained by the natural 
light variability or by some inaccuracies of measures and then now have no need of new measures, while for about thirty objects, the MAP already has 
a good estimate of the difference of H magnitude. The revised H magnitude has been published for 16 asteroids in the Minor Planet Bulletin 34-4
Since September 2008, the Minor Planet Center changed the H magnitude of 20892 numbered asteroids, up to June 13,2009
The MAP has 495 asteroids in its database. Among them, 39 objects already have their H magnitude concerned by the MPC corrections.
The actual residual differences with the MPC are from 0.0 to 0.6 mag for the MAP objects seen at least during 3 oppositions (averaged 0.10 mag).
On the 382 asteroids requiring new measures, the actual H magnitude differences are :
< 0,3 mag for 47 asteroids
0,3 mag for 66 asteroids
0,4 mag for 63 asteroids
0,5 mag for 69 asteroids
0,6 mag for 44 asteroids
0,7 mag for 38 asteroids
0,8 mag for 24 asteroids
0,9 mag for 15 asteroids
1,0 mag for 3 asteroids

undefined mag. for 5 asteroids
For 267 of them (53,9% of the total), the active lightcurve makers have permitted the knowledge of the data of asteroid lightcurve amplitudes.
A part of the 495 objects of the MAP already have been observed on some oppositions :

For the MAP objects concerned by a change of H magnitude, we continue to calculate the difference of H magnitude with the H magnitude
of the first MAP measure(s), but a final correction is made to take in account the change of the H magnitude by the MPC. Sometimes, a new 
averaged difference of H magnitude is found.
Lastly, Roger DYMOCK, Richard MILES (BAA) and Herbert RAAB (creator of the "Astrometrica" software) reached to obtain a better accuracy 
of the unfiltered CCD measures of magnitude, thank's to the possible use of the stellar CMC 14 catalog by Astrometrica.

The magnitude types CMu and CMr [used with R-V = + 0.4 mag] are the types of measures made with this new method, in the MAP Database.
Nearly ninety MAP asteroids already observed during two oppositions wait their third observed opposition to obtain probably the 
definitive confirmation of their H magnitude difference and the publication of the results !
Then we shall be very interested by your new measures of the MAP objects in the future !
CONTENU DE LA BASE DU MAP 495 Astéroïdes et 5542 mesures individuelles de magnitudes, parfois réunies sur une même ligne
Une "LISTE récapitulative des astéroides du MAP" avec leur différence actuelle de magnitude H figure sur les sites Web d'Astrosurf et de l'ALPO
Cette mise à jour de la base du MAP comprend 495 astéroïdes, soit 8 de plus que la base précédente du 01 mars 2009
La base du MAP contient à présent 5542 mesures au lieu des 5337 mesures précédentes, soit 205 mesures complémentaires depuis la dernière 
mise à jour de la base, il a 3 mois. 140 mesures CCD et 65 mesures visuelles constituent le total.
Outre les mesures des 8 nouveaux astéroides entrés dans la base du MAP, de nouvelles mesures ont été faites pour 20 anciens objets de la base
Sur les 495 astéroides de la base, 103 d'entre eux - soit 20,8% du total - ont vu leur différence d'origine de magnitude expliquée par la variabilité 
naturelle de lumière ou des imprécisions de mesures et n'ont donc plus à être mesurés, tandis que pour près d'une vingtaine d'objets, le MAP a déjà

Depuis septembre 2008, le Minor Planet Center a changé la magnitude H de 20892 astéroïdes numérotés, au 13 juin 2009
Le MAP a 495 astéroïdes dans sa database. Parmi eux, 39 objets ont vu leur magnitude H concernée par les corrections du MPC.
Les différences résiduelles actuelles avec le MPC vont de 0.0 à 0.6 mag pour les objets du MAP vus au moins lors de 3 oppositions (moyenne 0.10 mag).
Sur les 382 astéroides pouvant nécessiter de nouvelles mesures, les écarts actuels de magnitude sont :

Pour 267 d'entre eux (53.9% du total), les actifs faiseurs de courbes de lumière ont déjà permis la connaissance des données d'amplitudes
de courbes de lumière des petites planètes.
Une partie des 495 objets du MAP ont déjà pu être observés à plusieurs oppositions :

Pour les objets du MAP concernés par un changement de magnitude H, nous continuons de calculer la difference de magnitude H par 
rapport à la magnitude H des premières mesures, mais une correction finale est faite pour prendre en compte le changement de magnitude 
absolue H. Parfois, un nouvel écart moyen de magnitude H est trouvé.
Enfin, Roger DYMOCK, Richard MILES (BAA) et Herbert RAAB (créateur du logiciel "Astrometrica") ont réussi à obtenir une meilleure 
précision de mesures de magnitudes CCD non filtrées, grace au possible usage du catalogue stellaire CMC 14 par Astrometrica.

Les types de magnitudes CMu et CMr [utilisé avec R-V = + 0.4 mag] sont les types de mesures faites à l'aide de cette nouvelle méthode, 
dans la Base du MAP.
Près de 90 astéroïdes ayant déjà deux oppositions attendent donc une 3ème opposition observée pour avoir probablement leur écart de 
magnitude H définitivement confirmé et la publication de résultats !
