C/2000 WM1 (LINEAR). An apparently asteroidal 17.8th mag
object reported by LINEAR team on December 16.07. The
available positions allowed the Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams
to determine a rough orbit, which, in turn, allowed them to link these
observations to another LINEAR object detected on November 16 and 18.An
observations of comet 200WM1 by, T. B. Spahr (Smithsonian Astrophysical
Observatory, 1.2m reflector at Mt. Hopkins) on December 20.148 shows
the object to have a 10" coma and a broad, faint tail extending 10-20
arcsec PA 45°. IAUC (7546), the object was really a comet.
