Welcome on the Blois Sologne Astronomie Web page!

The Blois Astronomy Association was founded in 1997. We are a group of astronomy enthusiasts in the area of Blois. Our objective is simple: to forge a network of friendly people with a common interest in star-gazing and astronomical science. We also promote public awareness and education of astronomy by sponsoring viewing sessions for both the general public and local area schools:

- Observatory: we are currently building, with the support of the Chambord area districts, an observatory that will be available for this summer and will provide access to a large telescope (see more details here).

- Public star parties: we welcome the public at these popular events that are held regularly on Friday evenings (see calendar). Telescopes are set up for people to view the Moon, planets and deep sky objects such as galaxies, star clusters and gaseous nebulae. Observing begins as soon as it gets dark. All events are held at Fontaines-en-Sologne (20 km South-East of Blois) where we have our observatory and where we can benefit of a particularly dark site for the area. The dates are tentative and events will be cancelled if skies are not clear, the weather forecast is poor, or for other possible reasons. See here to get a detailed weather/cloud forecast. - Members star parties: We are also regularly organizing star parties dedicated to our Club members. You can have a look at the calendar of such events here.

- Every summer, we are participating to the National star-gazing event where we are offering a free public star party for two consecutive nights (see calendar)
