Comet C/2014 E2 (JACQUES)

August 18.071, 2014 observation

C11 telescope (D = 0.28 m - F/6.3)
Alpy 600 spectrograph at R = 700 (18 microns slit)
Atik 460EX+ CCD camera (binning 1x1)
Castanet-Tolosan (France)
Exposure : 4 x 600 s

Alpy 600 guiding image (Atik314L - 10 sec. exposure)

2D spectrum after sky removal (positive and negative view). The sky background is taken out of the comet field. Note double lined CN in the UV (4 x 600 sec. exposure). Click here for full version.

August 18.131, 2014 observation

C11 telescope (D = 0.28 m - F/6.3)
VHIRES Mumti-Order spectrograph at R = 50000 (échelle, 50 microns diameter fiber - 5.7 arsec on the sky or 25.5 arcsec2)
Atik 460EX+ CCD camera (binning 1x1)
Castanet-Tolosan (France)
Exposure : 8 x 600 s

Guiding image during VHIRES MO acquisition. The black hole is the fiber imput (only 25 arcsec2 at the focal plane of Celestron 11 telescope). 15 sec. exposure with Atik314L+ guiding camera.

Part of the 2D echelle spectrum. The forbidden [OI] line and CH2 lines are captured in the order 26. Fine C2 band structures are observed in the order 32.

Plot of order #26. Observed wavelength. For compute laboratory wavelength add a spectral shift of 0.63 A. For example, for [OI] : 6299.67 + 0.63 = 6300.30 A.
The calculated laboratory wavelength of 6297.97 A CH2 line is 6298.60 A (the standard value is 6298.62 A).
The calculated laboratory wavelength of 6296.70 A CH2 line is 6297.33 A (the standard value is 6297.32 A).
