High-luminosity supergiant stars

Numerous B and A type luminous supergiants shows complex Ha variability indicate a continual or sporadic ejection of matter. The source of the variability is probably the axisymmetric extended envelopes and rotational modulation wind regions. Suddently appearing deep and highly blue-shifted absorptions in Ha were found (possible ionization structure in the stellar wind). The time scales associated with the variability are of the order of days to months.
