Canon EOS 450D with Newton telescope 165/1145

17 October 2009 = very first shot with a digital camera

Ring nebula = M57
Composition of 10 x 20 sec exposures, offset, dark and flat corrected with IRIS v5.57.
Standard addition technique, artefacts corrected manually.

Andromeda galaxy = M31
Composition of 9 x 20 sec exposures, same treatment as above.

The total exposure time is clearly not sufficient. A logarithm has been applied to avoid saturation of the galaxy center, which makes some horizontal noise features (from the detector read-out) visible. When the new mount (Takahashi EM200-USD3) will be installed, it will be easier to have a longer total exposure : right now I throw a lot of images due to poor mount stability.
