17-19 May 2010

Comet 81P (Wild), 17 may 2010
20 exposures of 60s each, dark and flat corrected.
Time of acquisition was between 22h50 and 23h15 UT, air mass ratio = 1.939
Approx position = 14h02m50s / -05°05'00"
Moon illuminated fraction = 0.18 / height = 5 deg

The comet was close to Meridian at the beginning of the night, though only at declination -5 deg.
According to MPC, the comet has magnitude 10.4.

Comet 81P (Wild), 19 May 2010
21 exposures of 60s each, dark and flat corrected.
Time of acquisition was between 21h50 and 22h20 UT, air mass ratio = 1.830
Approx position = 14h02m54s / -05°11'15"
Moon illuminated fraction = 0.38 / height = 25 deg

The magnitude of sky background per arcsec^2 was estimated to 17.5, by comparison with Nomad catalog (via Aladin).
Comet magnitude = 10.5 (MPC).

23 May 2010

Comet C/2008 FK 75 (Lemmon Siding-Spring), 23 may 2010
60 exposures of 30 sec, dark and flat corrected.
Time of acquisition was between 0h45 and 1h35 UT (24 May), air mass ratio = 1.047
Approx position = 17h58m54s / +37°29'30"
Moon illuminated fraction = 0.82 / height = 10 deg

The comet was quite high in the sky, in Herculus constellation. Comparing the final frame with Nomad catalog (via Aladin) I found that stars up to magnitude V=19.5 are well visible on the final picture. According to MPC, the comet has magnitude 14.7.
