Éclipse partielle du soleil à l'aréna de Dorval

Le Club d'Astronomie de Dorval et ses membres vous invitent à venir visionner 'sécuritairement' l'éclipse partielle du soleil à Dorval 

Le lundi 21 août aura lieu une éclipse totale du soleil qui sera partielle pour nous ici dans la région de Montréal.  Une éclipse de soleil a lieu lorsque la Lune couvre en partie ou totalement le soleil lors de son passage entre la Terre et le Soleil. L'éclipse du soleil est totale au É.-U. mais partielle pour nous. La bande étroite (115km) où elle sera totale traversera les états d'Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Géorgie, Caroline du Nord et du Sud.  À Montréal, ce sera environ 58% du soleil sera couvert et ça débutera à 13 h 21 min (HAE), et atteindra son maximum à 14 h 38 min alors que 58,3% de la surface du Soleil sera alors cachée. Le phénomène se terminera à 15 h 50 mins.

***ATTENTION - MISE EN GARDE IMPORTANTE POUR SON OBSERVATION**

Il ne faut jamais regarder le Soleil directement, à moins de placer un filtre approprié entre ses yeux et le Soleil. Autrement, l’intense lumière du Soleil causera presque instantanément des brûlures permanentes de la rétine. Nous vous invitons donc à venir observer l’éclipse en toute sécurité avec nous de 13h à 16h. Nous aurons des télescopes et instruments dotés des filtres nécessaires et plusieurs lunettes solaires gratuites pour le public (merci à la FAAQ/SRAC/AstroMcGill pour celles-ci).

L'événement aura lieu à l'aréna de Dorval, au 1450 ave Dawson, et la carte de la région est ci-dessous. L'aréna se trouve complètement à gauche sur la carte ci-dessous...Nous ferons notre possible pour répondre à toutes vos questions…

Partial Solar Eclipse at the Dorval arena

Monday August 21st 2017 (from 1pm to 4pm approximately)

The Dorval Astronomy Club and its members invite you to come watch 'safely' de partial solar eclipse in Dorval!

On Monday August 21st, there will be a total solar eclipse which will be partial for us here in the Montreal region.  A solar eclipse happens when the Moon covers the sun partially or totally when it is passing between the Sun and the Earth. This eclipse is total in the USA but partial for us. The narrow band (115km) where it will be total crosses the states of Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North and South Carolina. In Montreal, approximately 58% of the Sun will be covered and it will start at 1h21pm (EDT), will reach maximum at 2h38pm and 58,3% of the Sun's surface will be hiddent. The phenomenon will end at 3h50pm.

***WARNING - PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE TO WATCH IT***

One should never look at the Sun directly, except if there is an appropriate filter between the Sun and the eyes. Otherwise, the intense light from the Sun could cause almost instantly some permanent burns to the retina. This is why we invite you to come watch the eclipse safely with us from 1pm to 4pm. We will have telescopes and instruments with the necessary filters and several solar goggles free for the public (thanks to FAAQ/SRAC/AstroMcGill for providing these).
