Filters

Cross Screen (4) Vivitar 55mm: This filter generates difraction patherns, like the spikes of a star. They are made to produce 4, 6 or 8 spikes.

DIFF1, Marumi, 58mm: Diffusor filter. Gives a controlated out of focus effect. In astrophotography it help to obtain less saturated star's colors. It seems that the DIFF2 model produces better results.

Lineal Polarizator, Vivitar, 55mm: It's use is very limited in astrophotography... perhaps you can use it only to avoid some reflected light in water (in star trails). By the other hand, it is very usefull in daylight shots and in sunsets. You can use it as a kind of lunar filter too.

Skylight 1A, Vivitar, 52mm: Another almost useless filter... helps only to avoid dust in the lens.

UV-Haze, Vivitar, 55mm: Same as before. Cuts a little the violet section of the spectrum, but in a very limited way. The Lumicon's Minus Violet filter is a better option, due it's 420nm lower transmition limit to prevent the blue haze from the chromatic aberration.

UV MC, Tokina, 58mm: Idem.

Black and White film's filters

I've got some filters fot B&W films, like X1, K2, O2 and 25A. Their use is limited to the amount of importance you want to give to some colors in the shadows/middtones/highlights. For a more complete explanation y suggest you to see the manuals that provides those companies (some very good filters are Kodak Wratten ones).
