RING OF FIRE OVER EUROPE

The images of October 3, 2005 Annular Solar Eclipse,

Alessandro and I both measured the temperature and relative humidity, with two digital thermoigrometers rested on the ground in shadow from the Sun.

The trend of the temperature is very strange, with only half a degree Celsius of drop! Nothing compared to -7°C we recorded during the total solar eclipse of 1999. Maybe the cause of the small drop are the clouds that partly covered the first hours of the morning. But maybe a cause is also the wind that blowed strongly during all the morning, and also the height of the hill.

The relative humidity reflect inversely the trend of the temperature (a lowering of the temperature involve an increase of relative humidity). But in the centrality phase this change is limited only to 1-2%!

A German amatour that was observing with us have also a luxmeter on the ground that see the Sun illiminance. He measured a strog drop to 3000 lux at 9.02 UT, at the central of the anularity phase. Normally the sun out of the eclipse has an illuminace of about 100000 lux, so the percentual drop is about 97%.
(if the German amatour read this, please write me!)
