THE    “TERCIDINA EVENT”

 

 

                (345) TERCIDINA, a 100 km-large asteroid, occulted the bright star (Mv = 5.5) HIP 19388 = FK6 1115
 = 44 TAU = 
w1 TAU on 2002 September 17.

 

                109 observers, from 17 countries have been involved. Many of them travelled to observe, some for more than 1500 km, some to be clouded out at the last minute. You will find, next page, the list of their abbreviations, in alphabetical order. 76 of them (in bold characters) recorded an occultation and 21, not. Taking into account double or multiple stations, multiple observations by the same observer but several methods, there have been 77 positive reports.

BNN and LQC missed the northern limb of asteroid by only 7 km; OYM and LEH the southern one by 4 km. They  were "shepherd" observers, a few km north and south of the shadow.
