Aries is the first zodiacal constellation and contained vernal equinox around 1000 BC. In Greek mythology it was associated with the Golden Fleece retrived by the Argonauts after long voyage across Black Sea in Argo Navis (now split into Puppis, Pyxis, Carina and Vela).

There is a number of galaxies in Aries of which NGC772 is the largest and brightest example.
