Planetary Nebula IC1295 in Scutum
(RA 18h 54.6m , Dec. -8°50', 15.0 mag., >86 arcsec.)

This faint planetary nebula is detectable against the bright background of Scutum Star Cloud through a 8 inch telescope with a nebular filter (see finder chart below).
The above image was taken on August 15, 2001 from Harrowsmith, Ontario with Cookbook 245 LDC camera and Celestron Ultima 8 SCT at f10. Imaging telescope was autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera attached to 500mm f8 guidescope. Seven white exposures (240 sec. each) were combined using AIP4WIN software.
North is to the left.
