Fetus Nebula (IC1848) in Cassiopeia


IC1848 nebula and star cluster embeded in it are located just over 4° N of h Persei (see finder chart below). The same field of view also contains Collinder 33 and Collinder 34 star clusters as well as faint nebulae IC1871 and Sh2-198 (see illustration below). IC1848 is located just SE off IC1805 complex.

Tha above mosaic was assembled from 18 tiles composed of 90 images taken on September 16, 1999 from Sooke, B.C. I used Celestron Ultima 8 SCT at f3.0 and Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera. For each tile, five 60 sec. exposures were taken through infrared blocking filter and then combined with Multi245.
