Planetary Nebula NGC2022 in Orion
(RA 5h 42.1m , Dec. +9°05', 11.9 mag., >18" in diameter)

This faint annular planetary nebula is located between Betelgeuse (aOrionis) and lOrionis (see finder chart below).
The above image was taken on October 29, 2000 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 SCT with eyepiece projection to achieve f20. White exposures (8 x 30 sec.) were combined with cyan, magenta and yellow-filtered images (5 x 30 sec., 5 x 30 sec. and 4 x 30 sec., respectively) using AIP4WIN software and the color image was furter adjusted in Lab color space with Corel PhotoPaint 8.
Only a quater of the original Cookbook frame is shown. North is to the left.
