NGC2903 Galaxy in Leo

(RA 9h 32.2m , Dec. +21° 30', 9.0 mag., 12 x 6 arcmin.)


This large spiral galaxy is located almost 1°30' S of l Leonis (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on April 13, 1998 and March 19, 1999 from Sooke, BC. Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 telescope autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. The image is composed of white exposures (7 x 4 min.) as well as cyan, magenta and yellow-filtered integrations (4 x 4 min. each) processed with AIP4WIN and adjusted in Lab color space with Corel PhotoPaint 8.

North is to the right.
