NGC3718 in Ursa Major
(RA 11h 32.6m , Dec. +53° 04', 10.8 mag., 10.0 x 4.7 arcmin.)

This peculiar spiral galaxy can be spotted through a telescope 3°10' SWW of g Ursae Majoris (see finder chart below). Vastly more distant group of interacting galaxies (composed of PGC35609, PGC35615, PGC35618, UGC6527 and PGC35631) is located 7' S in the same field of view.
The above image was taken on February 18, 2002 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 telescope autoguided with a Cookbook 211 LDC camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. Seven white exposures (600 sec. each) were combined with cyan, magenta and yellow-filtered images (5 x 240 sec. each) using AIP4WIN software and the image was furter adjusted in Lab color space with Corel PhotoPaint 8.
