NGC4699 Galaxy in Virgo

(RA 12h 49.0m , Dec. -8° 40', 10.2 mag., 4.4 x 3.2 arcmin.)


This small spiral galaxy has a bright core surrounded by faint outer region. It is located 1°30' NW of y Virginis (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on May 12, 2001 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 focal telescope autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. Five white exposures (240 sec. each) were combined using AIP4WIN.

North is to the right.
