NGC6940 Open Cluster in Vulpecula

(RA 20h 34.6m , Dec. +28° 18', 6.3 mag., 31 arcmin.)

This rich and large open cluster is located close to Veil Nebula in Cygnus. It is easy to notice in binoculars as a "hazy" patch as large as Full Moon (see finder chart below).

The above mosaic was taken on May 19, 2001 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 SCT with f3.0 focal reducer. Four tiles, each made of five white exposures (30 sec. each) processed in AIP4WIN, were combined into a mosaic using Corel PhotoPaint 8.
