NGC7538 Nebula in Cepheus

NGC7538 constitues small part of a massive molecular cloud where vigorous star formation is taking place. It can be found 1°15' W of M52 in Cassiopeia (see finder chart below).
The above image was taken on December 18, 1998 from Sooke, B.C. with Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 SCT and Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera (autoguided with Cookbook CB211 LDC CCD camera on piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens). Color image was composed of white integrations (8 x 240 sec.) as well as cyan, magenta and yellow-filtered exposures (4 x 240 sec., 3 x 240 sec. and 4 x 240 sec., respectively) using AIP4WIN. Color image was then adjusted with Corel PhotoPaint 8 in Lab color space.
North is to the right.
