40km long by 18km wide, the grouping formed by the islands of Raïatea and tahaa is around 200km northwest of TAHITI (French Polynesia). Raïatea has a land area of 171 km2 and 10000 people while its smaller neighbor covers only 91 km2 and 5000 people.
