Cette région est l'une des plus colorées du ciel et contient de nombreux objets différents : Rho Ophiuchi est le système d'étoiles triples situé au centre haut de l'image et entouré de la nébuleuse à réflection de couleur bleue IC 4604.  Sous elle se situe l'étoile Sigma Scorpii entourée par une nébuleuse à émission d'hydrogène de couleur rouge. L'on y trouve également les amas globulaires M004 et NGC6144 situés bien plus loin en arrière plan ; l'étoile super géante rouge Antares ainsi que la nébuleuse obscure B44 surnommée "la Rivière noire".

This region is one of the most colorful in the sky and contains many different objects: Rho Ophiuchi is the triple star system located at the top center of the image and surrounded by the blue color reflection nebula IC 4604. Below, the Sigma Scorpii star is surrounded by a red emission nebula. There are also globular clusters M004 and NGC6144 in fact much further in the background; the super giant red star Antares and the obscure nebula B44 nicknamed "the Black River".
