2" Oculars
The New University 32mm MK-80
Breathtaking panoramic views at a reasonable price
Termed the “31mm Killer” by a respected optical expert, this new 32mm Konig MK-80 once again proves you don’t have to spend $600 on a eyepiece to experience quality panoramic views of the heavens. University pioneered the concept of 82 degree fields over 15 years ago making us the most experienced firm in this unique field of design.

Price: $295.95

Superior Japanese craftsmanship

konig.pdf

In an era where monster oculars have reach the practical limits of size and weight, the MK-80 weighs in at a trim and respectable 18oz.

The MK-80 is supplied with our world famous multi-coated optics. Remember, we pioneered the concept of multi-coating on consumer astronomical products in the 1970s. This is one of the reasons our oculars have always exceeded in superior image contrast. A large rubber eye shield is standard.

Here's a great (and very fair) review of the 32mm MK80 for those who are interested:

UO 2" Konig. Posted by Steven Keaton on 12/14/2005 8:19 PM (181 hits)

To the more experienced:

The old familiar can you offer an unbiased opinion on - The Konigs. I have my beloved Nagler 26mm T5. A beauty, but heavy and costly. I would like to replace it with an obvious equal since its no fun moving down the rung.

Will the Konig II 32mm fit the bill or must it be the New Konig 32mm MK80, and how will either perform?

I know that these two sell like hotcakes on the Classifieds, so that alone says they are good.

Any comments,

Steve

Hi Steve

I borrowed a friends 32mm Konig II and used it on my TEC6. To me it looked pretty darn good even out to the edge! He uses it with his 12.5" f/5 dob and the central 75-80% of the FOV looks very good. I think it's a terrific eyepiece!

Thanks
Bill

What type of scope will you be using? The MK80 is my favorite and most used eyepiece. It's sharp (and wonderful) out to the edge in my 7" f/10 Maksutov, but I have no idea how it would perform in a faster scope.

Steve,
I have alot of experience with the Konigs. I have used all of UO konigs for many years. This includes the 6.5,8,12,16,24,32(1.25"), 32(2"), and the MK80. I have also used the radians, pentax xl's, UO orthos, Ultimas, TV plossl's, pentax orthos, TV panoptics, TV naglers.
One of my all time favorite eyepieces is the UO 32mm 2" konig. I would bet it is not as good as the panoptic - but I have never been able to tell. The panoptics do have a slightly wider field of view. In the right scope and under the right conditions the differnec might be apparent. But, like I said I have never seen it.

As to the MK80, well, I have heard from people I greatly trust this is an excellent eyepiece. The one I had when used in my 12.5" f/5 dob, was not very good. The edge was very badly distorted. It showed a tremendous amount of field curvature. On slower scopes it should do better. I would by the 35 pan over the mk80.

Most of the Naglers I have used are in the shorter focal lengths so I could not tell you how they perform against the Konig. I think the 32mm Konig is one of the best buys on the market.
Just my $0.02 worth

Hi Thomas

Sorry to bother, but I went to the post office this morning, to send you the money, but there is a new rule ( Law ) starting in January
They are asking $35.- and to fill up two pages of stupid questions, this is against " black money washing "
I just wonder what are doing our Swiss Banks...
By the way haven't you got a bank accont, this would be the cheapest way for me...
or have you eared of Western Union Money Transfer, is there in your home town an office ? they charge me $ 22
sorry about all this, have a nice day.

Jean-Pierre

Hi Jean,
This eyepiece is less than one year old and I'm the original owner. I am not a member of Pay Pal and would prefer a money order. The price is firm at $190.00 as the eyepiece costs $295.00 purchased new. The optics are like new with no damage to eyepiece. Have a good day, Thomas

Yes I'm still interested, but first a few questions.
Are you the original owner ? when ?
Is this eyepiece in perfect condition ?
do you have the rubber eye guard that go with it.
I would have rather like to send the money by pay pal, they charge me $12 for the money order...
I also need your home adress for the money order.
let me know and clear sky
