SUPERNOVA 1999ej IN NGC 495 :A. Friedman, J. Y. King, and W. D. Li,
University of California at Berkeley (UCB), report the discovery by the Lick
Observatory Supernova Search (LOSS; cf. IAUC 6627, 7126) with the 0.8-m Katzman
Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT) of an apparent
supernova in NGC 495. SN 1999ej was discovered and confirmed on unfiltered
images taken on Oct. 18.3 and 19.3 UT (both with mag
about 18.1). The new object is located at R.A. = 1h22m57s.38, Decl. =
+33o27'58".0 (equinox 2000.0), which is 17".7 east and 20".1
south of the nucleus of NGC 495.
