1st. COMPETITION 'ASTRONOMIC IMAGE'
1999
- R U L E S -
In this competition will be admitted astronomic images
such as astrophotographs, pictures taken with CCD
cameras and artist works.
PARTICIPANTS:
Everyone except jury.
THEME:
Astronomy.
WORKS:
Works must be unpublished and must have been done
between October 1998 and September 1999 Maximum 3
works per person in each category.
TECHNICS:
Every technic is allowed except the use of professional
observatories.
CATEGORIES:
------ SHORT FOCAL LENGTH ------
Images taken with optical systems less than 4.5 inches
diameter.
------ LONG FOCAL LENGTH ------
Images taken with optical systems equal or more than
4.5 inches.
------------- CCD -------------
Images taken with CCD cameras.
----------- ARTISTICS -----------
Photographs, drawings, collages, paintings, etc.
PRESENTATION:
Paper with maximum size of 12x16 inches (30x40 cm.)
Each work must be strengthened and must be sticked
on a rigid stand of maximum 16x20 inches (40x50 cm.).
Besides, in CCD category, the diskette with the image
in .JPG, .TIF or .GIF format must be presented.
IDENTIFICATION:
- Of the work:
On the back of every work must be mentioned the category,
title of the work and nick name of author as well
as technic characteristics and everything which could
help to understand the work.
- Of the author:
Each participant must deliver a closed envelope showing
his nick name of the outside. Inside, the author name,
complete postal address, contact-phone, etc. must
be mentioned.

DISPATCH AND ADMISSION OF WORKS:
Works must be sent between two rigid cardboards, so
that they do not get damaged in the way. They may
be sent by mail to the address below:

The works must have been presented in either of the
above mentioned addresses not later than October 15th,
1999.
RETURNS:
The works which have not won any prize will be returned
to authors who apply for them, once the exposition
has ended. Either authors may pick the works up in
the a.m. address of Tafira Baja, or the works may
be sent by mail if authors have enclosed the necessary
envelopes and stamps at time of delivery of works.
The application to return the works must be done within
one year after the award. The organizers will handle
the works with duly care. Nevertheless we will assume
no responsibility for any damage it might be caused
to the works at any time until they have been returned.
JURY:
It will be constituted by professionals and amateurs
having experience in this kind of images, as well
as by representatives of organizer entities. The award
will take place in the 4th. Astronomic Week of Gran
Canaria (November 2nd to 5th, 1999).
SELECTION:
If number of images presented is great, the jury will
make a previous selection of works.
PROPERTY:
The works which have been prized will be a property
of the Astronomic Association of Gran Canaria, which
will be allowed to publish the works mentioning their
authors. It is understood that who present the images
has the copyright of them and we assume no responsibility
of any problem which could arise from this point.
SHOW:
The works presented (or the selection of them) will
be shown in the 4th Astronomic Week of Gran Canaria.

OTHER RULES:
The works presented which do not comply the rules
will be rejected Any other circumstance which has
not been foreseen will be resolved by the jury The
participation in the competition will imply the acceptance
of these rules.
