 Who I am

The Observatory is located on the terrace of my apartment, and its name comes from the quarter where we live in the village of Tiana. Its geografic coordinates are +41º 29' E  2º 16' and is 167m above sea level. My equipment consists of a pier and an AP900 (Astro-Physics) GEM (German Equatorial Mount). The mount's tracking is so precise I seldom need to guide many of my exposures. The Optical Tube Assembly is a 10-inch (25 cm) Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and with its aperture I can reach for faint objects even in my polluted skies.

The optical train includes a Celestron f/6.3 focal reducer, an extender, and a SBIG ST7-XE CCD camera by Santa Barbara Instruments Group with guiding chip. In its normal working configuration, the resolution is 1.72"/pixel, although I can change that a little bit with different adapters. A Crayford style dual-speed focuser (Feathertouch Focuser) and a RoboFocus motor makes fosusing a snap, and I typically do that remotely from inside my apartment where I have the "control room".
